Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the drying process take?
The average drying process takes approximately 3 to 5 days but depends upon many variables. Some of the factors are: how wet the materials are, the type and density of the materials to be dried, the size of the area to be dried, temperature and humidity conditions in the area to be dried, etc.
How much is this going to cost?
As previously mentioned, the average drying process takes approximately 3 to 5 days but depends upon many variables. Obviously, because of this, it is impossible for us to quote a price up front. Our highly skilled technicians combined with the use of "cutting edge" equipment is your assurance that the drying process will be completed as quickly as possible. We will present you with a partial price list of services upon your request.
Who is going to pay for this?
In most cases your insurance company will cover the cost of the service minus any deductible you might have. After collecting your deductible, we will work directly with your insurance company and accept payment directly from them. However, if you don't have insurance or, in the rare case that your claim is denied, you will be responsible for the cost.
How do I file a claim with my insurance company?
Most insurance companies have a claims hotline for you to call so you can report your claim and get a claim number. You will find that phone number on your policy or on the internet. Be sure to have your policy information at the time of the call and write down the claim number correctly. You can always call your insurance agent, as well, and he can help you with the process. If need be our technicians will be glad to assist in any way possible.
I live in a condo and the unit upstairs caused the damage. Don't they have to pay for it?
Unfortunately, the process requires you to file a claim with your insurance company. Your insurance company will pay for the damages (minus your deductible). Your insurance company will then go after the insurance company of the upstairs unit owner and recover their money if the unit owner is found negligent in any way. If there is no insurance involved, you will have to go after the unit owner in civil court.
What is all this equipment and why do I need it?
Structural drying is a combination of science and art. In its simplest terms, we are using the process of evaporation to dry the affected areas. We employ the latest technologies and equipment to enhance and speed up this evaporation process. Air movement, heat, dehumidification and drying chambers are just a few examples.
How will you know when it is dry?
When our technicians arrive on site you'll notice that one of the tasks they perform is determining which areas are wet. They use a combination of highly sensitive moisture meters and infrared technology to locate the extent and quantity of the water damage. They compare these readings to areas that were unaffected by the water event. Over the course of the drying process our technicians return to monitor the progress and make any necessary adjustments to the equipment. When the moisture readings in the areas that were wet are dried to the same levels as the unaffected areas, the drying process is complete.
What happens if I don't use a dry out service and just let it dry naturally?
Many people consider Florida to be the mold capitol of the world. In the proper environment mold can start to grow within 48 to 72 hours. If the drying process is not expedited mold will grow, potentially causing structural damage to the property and serious health issues to the occupants. Furthermore, your insurance policy requires you to mitigate further damage to the property as soon as possible.
What do I do if I have mold?
We are licensed by the State of Florida for Mold Remediation and Mold Assessment. Our technicians will advise you if they have reason to suspect mold growth is present. They will then contain the area, if necessary, to prevent the potential further spread of contamination until such time as a further assessment of the situation can be conducted and a course of action decided upon.
